I’ve been pretty quiet on this blog recently – primarily because I went and soaked up some sun in California for two weeks, and now I’ve come back to work and it’s busy busy busy!
I am going to write a separate post about the US trip for my travel category, but today I just want to talk makeup!
If you’re a makeup junkie and live in the UK you’ll understand how frustrating it is to see American beauty bloggers and vloggers talking about products that they’ve ‘picked up at Sephora’ that are not sold ANYWHERE in the UK! And I don’t know about you but I’m not prepared to pay £20 to get a product shipped over from the US when I haven’t swatched it in person.
Obviously I was so excited to be able to finally try out some products that I’ve heard so much about. So without further ado, here is a little run down the makeup items that I bought. Enjoy!
Too Faced – Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette
I am obsessed with this palette.
This was the number one item on my USA makeup shopping list, I cannot tell you how long I’ve wanted to try it! For some reason I had it in my head that Too Faced products are slightly gimmicky because of the sickly sweet packaging and scents. However, I was well and truly proven wrong, the eyeshadows in this palette are probably some of the highest quality shadows I own. They are extremely pigmented, blend like a dream, and best of all, smell like chocolate… what more could a girl want?!
Tarte – tartelette in bloom clay palette
As you can see I have a thing for neutral eyeshadow palettes. I didn’t need this product, but it caught my eye as I walked past the Tarte counter in Macy’s and thirty seconds later I was at the checkout buying it. To be honest I haven’t properly used this palette yet, but from the few times I have used it, it’s very nice and has a beautiful range of brown shades. Although for some reason I don’t think that it blends as well as some of my other palettes, but I don’t want to pass too harsh a judgement just yet – like I said, I need use it more.
Kat Von D – Ink Liner
To do my eyeliner I only ever use liquid (I just can’t get on with pencil or gel) and I have heard great things about Kat Von D’s liners. I went for the Ink Liner instead of the more popular Tattoo Liner, because I was speaking to a girl that worked in Sephora and she advised me that the Ink Liner is much quicker and easier to apply because it is designed more like a felt tip pen than a brush. But I’m not sure I made the right choice – I’d love to know if any of you have tried the Tattoo Liner!
Mac – Kinda Sexy Lipstick & Boldly Bare Lip Liner
You can never have too many lipsticks.
Ahh, good old Mac. Mac is sold in the UK, but it would be criminal to walk past a Mac store without buying at least a lipstick! This one is pretty boring and there’s not really much to say; nude matte lipstick, nude liner, great for overlining.
And that brings me to the end of my little haul, of course while in America I bought loads of other bits and bobs, but none of it is as exciting as buying new makeup! As usual I’d love to know if any of you have any of these products and what you think of them. 🙂
