Within the College of Art & Design, students have access to theDesign Shop, a traditional wood-working studio where students have access to state-of-the-art digital fabrication equipment including a 3D printer, laser cutter, and CNC mill, and theFabrication Lab, a digital laboratory where students and faculty have the capacity to create a multidisciplinary, active, team-learning environment by leveraging large-scale digital fabrication equipment!both are located in the Art Building.Students can rent photography and lighting equipment and access more 3D printers and 3D scanners at theCommunication across the Curriculum (CxC) Art & Design Studio. And the School of Art'sIDEA Hub, features high-end equipment and cutting-edge technologies, where faculty, doctoral and graduate students, upper-level undergraduates, and other users can connect to digital resources with networked laptops and mobile devices to transport content between workstations, studios, and multiple presentation environments.
On-campus and off-sitegalleries, such as theGlassell Gallery, offer robust program calendars and exhibit the work of local and national artists.These galleries provide opportunities for students to exhibit their own work.Students also have access to LSU's Digital Media Center, a 100,000-square-foot building that is home to Electronic Arts and the Center for Computation and Technology, which features a state-of-the-art 4K or Ultra HD theater.
Other LSU arts and cultural related facilities includeHill Memorial Library, theLSU Museum of Art, theRural Life Museum, and theHilltop Arboretum.These facilities are rich with cultural and archival resources related to the Lower Mississippi River Valley, the Gulf South, and the Louisiana environment. All University facilities offer opportunities for student research and potential employment.
