Michael Blier, registered landscape architect and founding principal of Landworks Studio Inc., will lecture at the LSU College of Art + Design on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, as part of the Paula G.Manship Endowed Lecture Series.
Blier is a leading practitioner and educator investigating the re-urbanization of disturbed landscapes through solutions that explore the performative qualities of materials and experientially of landscape.His recent work is largely urban and site specific in nature and seeks to exploit the inherent complexities that exist between ecologically challenged sites, ecological and cultural sustainability, material tectonics, and program.

About Michael Blier
For 12 years, Blier led design studios and taught representation courses at Harvard Graduate School of Design.He has been a visiting critic at the Rhode Island School of Design since 1991, and has lectured extensively throughout the United States at universities, including Penn State, Rhode Island School of Design, University of Colorado in Fort Collins, the Taubman School at the University of Michigan, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Harvard.
hth华体会体育app官网Blier received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1986 and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1992.After graduating Harvard, Blier joined Martha Schwartz Inc.in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and for three years as a senior designer, he worked on a series of art-based urban public and urban private projects, such as the Javits Plaza in New York City, HUD Headquarters in Washington DC, and Gifu Housing in Gifu, Japan.
In 1997, Blier began teaching at Harvard Graduate School of Design, at which time Landworks Studio Inc.was founded.Since then, the studio has been consistently recognized within the profession as a critically motivated design group.
