Jane Ashburn is an assistant professor of practice with a focus on research in architectural conservation.Her professional interests include historic structure conservation reports, architectural finish analysis, technical illustrations, & improving accessibility in the field of architectural conservation.Ashburn's work has been accepted into the Library of Congress as part of the Historic American Buildings Survey.
Prior to her appointment at LSU, Ashburn taught at Tulane University in the historic preservation graduate program as assistant professor of research in architectural conservation.She previously held positions at both Texas A&M University and Clemson University, as well as Preservation Texas, a statewide preservation non-profit.Ashburn has worked in private practice as an architectural and object conservator since 2016 and is a founding partner at Heritage Resource Management Consulting, LLC.
Ashburn has a Masters of Science in Historic Preservation from Clemson University and received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Cumberland University.Originally from East Tennessee, she has worked with partners throughout the American South and the Greater Caribbean Region.When not working with students or historic buildings, she enjoys beekeeping, painting, and traveling.
