Andrew Baqué is an associate professor of practice in the LSU School of Interior Design.hth华体会体育app官网He holds a BArch from LA Tech University and a MS in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University.hth华体会体育app官网He has taught interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate studios and seminars for approximately 20 years at several academic institutions, including LSU College of Art & Design, Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, and Kent State University's School of Architecture and Environmental Design.

He has worked professionally for over 40 years in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.In the public sector he has worked as an urban designer for the cities of Pittsburgh, PA, and New York, NY.Privately he has held the position of principle-in-charge of design in multiple firms around the country, where most recently he worked in the city of New Orleans on several landmark projects.hth华体会体育app官网These projects include interior architecture for the new Louis Armstrong International Airport, creation of a vision plan for the New Orleans Convention Center River District, and architecture, urban design and community engagement for the redevelopment of the Iberville public housing neighborhood in the city's downtown area.In the past ten years, he has been principle and co-owner of his own design practice, Baqué Huffman Studio.The firm's work is primarily concentrated in the Gulf Coast Region between Louisiana and Florida.He and his business partner have won several local, state, and national design awards.His non-profit work has been as Associate Director of the Urban Design Center of Northeast Ohio, where he conducted one to five day, large scale design/master planning charrettes and workshops for cities, communities, civic organizations, and Community Development Corporations (CDC) throughout Ohio.

His research and teaching interests range from exploring the intersection of design and social narratives to the phenomena of spatial interiority.His upper-level interdisciplinary design studios have examined the relationship between design and the social dynamics of mental health, homelessness, special-needs education, and veteran's housing, to addressing the impact design can have on reconciling racism, celebrating the creative spirit of enslaved populations, decolonizing design, and mimicking nature through Biomimicry.This serves as context for his seminars where the finer grain of human experience is studied as spatial interiority.This examines spatial continuums formed by degrees of interior/exterior enclosure, the liminal spaces they engender, and their seamless boundaries forged between multiple design disciplines.He has lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally at conferences and symposiums, and he has published articles in national journals focused on these investigations.
