An outdoor kinetic sculpture,A Journey of Footsteps, designed by LSU'sHye Yeon Nam, assistant professor of digital art, and Myung Ki Nam, her brother and collaborator, was on display at the Yongsan Family Park in Korea as part of theAmorePacific Museum of Art Project, or APMAP, August 13–September 10, 2016.
The installation consists of feet walking forward, full of hope, toward the future.Visitors participate in the installation by stepping on and pressing down the pedals beneath the work to engender the dynamic movements of each panel shaped in the form of a foot.
A Journey of Footstepsrepresents the geographical history of Yongsan. As participants use the foot pedals to directly interact with the artwork, they can experience the active dynamics of moving forward while connecting past and the future, human and nature.
