hth华体会体育app官网Riccardo d'Aquino, architect and professor at the University of Arkansas Rome Center, will lecture on "Architecture and Such Things: Elemental Observations on Several Works" at the LSU Design Building, room 103, on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 5 p.m.
hth华体会体育app官网Riccardo d'Aquino was born in Rome and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture Valle Giulia.hth华体会体育app官网He received a PhD in architecture design from the Sapienza University of Rome—orSapienza-Universitá di Roma.hth华体会体育app官网From 2002 to 2012, he taught architecture design at the Faculty of Valle Giulia at Sapienza University of Rome.
In 2011, d'Aquino won a silver medal in the International Architectural Restoration Prize, "Fassa Bortolo Domus Restoration and Preservation," for his restoration project realized in the Basilica of St.Stephen in the Round on the Celian Hill, orBasilica di Santo Stefano al Monte Celioin Italian.Since 2012, d'Aquino has been the thesis tutor at the Post-Graduate School of Preservation at Sapienza University of Rome.
In 2013, after several years of collaboration, he became a faculty member at the University of Arkansas Rome Center, located in the center of Rome in the 13th-century Palazzo Taverna.
The Rome Center offers an educational experience that replaces the traditional classroom with a didactic, hands-on study approach.This is done through extensive local site visits, museum tours, and travels throughout Italy, combined with multimedia research conducted at the school's studio.Visituarkrome.itfor more information.
The Rome Center is also the location of theLSU College of Art + Design Rome Programhth华体会体育app官网, an 11-week, 12-credit-hour study abroad program taught by LSU faculty, designed to integrate within the curricula in both the architecture and landscape architecture programs at LSU.
The lecture is part of the 2013–14 LSU College of Art + Design Paula G.Manship Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.hth华体会体育app官网The topic of the lecture will be of particular interest to LSU architecture and landscape architecture students and faculty, local architects and landscape architects, and community members interested in learning more about architecture from an international perspective.
Architects who attend the lecture qualify for one hour of continuing education credit, thanks to the support of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (aiabr.com).
