hth华体会体育app官网Despite hectic schedules and the need to prepare for final exams, a group of second-year students from the LSU School of Architecture found time on a recent Saturday morning to help revitalize one of Baton Rouge's oldest neighborhoods.

Nearly three dozen students and two faculty members from the School spent their Saturday painting and refurbishing a run-down house in Mid City. They were joined by a group of 150 volunteers from the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance who collectively worked on several homes and churches in the neighborhood.

The event was sponsored by Mayor Kip Holden's office through a program called Operation Restore Pride. It was co-sponsored by Campus Federal, which provided lunch for the event, and Habitat for Humanity which provided supplies and paint.

"This was a great service learning event for our students," said Assistant Professor David Bertollini, who led the students in the endeavor along with adjunct faculty member John Lackett."They showed their selflessness and desire to give back to the community."
