LSU Art Students Create Giant Storybooks for Service Learning Project
The LSU School of Art is pleased to announce its participation this weekend in the first annual STORYBOOK BALL, a fundraiser to benefit Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge.The event will be staged in an enchanted and magical setting in which guests can walk through life-sized storybook modules, each of which will have an activity for children to enjoy.The giant storybook modules were created and built by students in the LSU School of Art.
"Service learning is an important component of our program in the School of Art, and this has been a wonderful way for our students to engage in a fun and challenging project that also benefits the community," said Rod Parker, interim director of the School.
Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge is a private non-profit organization that coordinates the services of more than 104 non-profit, private, public and governmental agencies to families in one central location.This "one-stop" network is designed to help build stronger and healthier families with programs that address health, social, and economic problems.
The STORYBOOK BALL will be held this Saturday, March 14, from 6-10 PM at Celtic Studios, 10000 Celtic Drive.Tickets will sell for $100 per adult and $25 per youth.
